As our blogger fans know, we here at FTF love a good food truck. So we recently decided to try out the new Gorilla Cheese Truck, which specializes in making grilled cheese sandwiches. You’re probably thinking what’s so special about a grilled cheese sandwich and how can a food truck base its entire menu off of such a simple creation, but the Gorilla truck has succeeded in doing just that.
We arrived at the truck and were instantly greeted with a long line, but that didn’t stop us from waiting. When it was finally our turn to order, the FTF team kept it simple and ordered 3 grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato and bacon, and let me just say they were delicious! I’m not sure what they do or how they do it but this was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever had! Is it the bread, the cheese, the grill? I’m not quite sure, but I’m glad that the Gorilla Cheese Truck team figured out the secret.
But while the sandwiches were excellent, we have some constructive criticism to share as well. They were obviously not prepared to handle the New York City lunch crowd, as evidenced by our 45 minute wait after ordering our 3 simple sandwiches, which, in the food truck world, is about 35 minutes too long. The team on board the truck was a little too relaxed to handle a long line of hungry New Yorkers. We hope that as time goes on the Gorilla Cheese truck perfects its assembly line and picks up the pace, as it would be a shame to miss out on such a great sandwich because you didn’t have time to wait.
