Well, its official… according to the Wall Street Journal, Jon Stewart is “the Most Powerful Economic Force in the U.S.” So powerful in fact, that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner went to Stewart for a private, off-the-record meeting back in April. A Treasury spokesman said “Jon Stewart is influential in America, so we took the opportunity for the two to meet and to discuss the economy.” If Timothy Geithner can find the time to travel to Stewart’s office for a chat on the economy, then I have to say, he must be pretty powerful and I should probably start listening to him.
With that said, we came across this clip from a recent episode of “The Daily Show.” In the clip, Stewart sits down with Bethany McLean and Joe Nocera, authors of “All the Devils Are Here” which explains the financial collapse in great detail. In the end, as the video shows, this book will provide full insight into the lead-up of the financial crisis, but also has the potential of making you angrier than you were before you began reading! Even though I don’t like to go around actively seeking things that will make me angrier, I have to say, I really want to read this book and see just how much of the crisis should and could have been prevented.
But check this video out, and see “the most powerful economic force in the U.S.” at work….
