Mutual fund provider 361 Capital, which specializes in liquid alternatives, has hired Daniel C. Cascarano as its new vice president of national accounts and institutional sales, officials say.
In his new role, Cascarano will “lead 361 Capital’s efforts in cultivating key account relationships across institutional and intermediary channels,” according to a company statement.
“With volatility clearly on the horizon for fixed income and equity markets, advisors and clients are turning to alternative mutual funds to diversify away from market risk and to optimize portfolios,” says 361 Capital President and CEO Tom Florence, in a prepared statement. “Dan’s extensive experience in alternative investments combined with his institutional analyst background make him a strong complement to our rapidly expanding distribution team,” Florence adds.
Cascarano joins 361 Capital from U.S. Bank, where he was previously vice president of alternative investments research for the firm’s private client reserve, officials say. While in that role, he “spearheaded the development of a research system that streamlined the due diligence process, improved quantitative performance measures and strengthened communication to portfolio managers,” the statement says.
Prior to U.S. Bank, Cascarano spent several years as an analyst for Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, officials say.
