Forget the glib Golden Globes, the scandal-ridden Oscars and the snooty awards by vicious film critics and please focus your attention on the FTF News Technology Innovation Awards 2016, presented by Financial Technologies Forum and its news arm.
We were the first to put such a great spotlight on securities operations — others have tried to match our efforts but they pale in comparison.
So, you have every reason to take this opportunity to review your own progress and take a major step toward celebrating yourself and your life’s work.
But, in fact, you have only days left to put forth nominees in our very earnest attempt to celebrate and recognize the professionals, financial technology vendors, service providers, industry bodies and regulators that have advanced securities operations during 2015.
Nominations close by the end of the day on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016.
Your nominations are the key for the whole process.
We review your applications for the nominees, select the best ones, and formally nominate them for the ultimate awards.
Then, unlike other awards programs, we let industry participants pick the winners through an online voting process. There are rules, of course, such as not letting people vote for themselves, and screening to make sure voters are the foot soldiers of the industry and not robots trying to game the system.
We have a lot of categories so that we can cast as wide a net as we can. We have the provider-oriented awards such as Best Buy-Side Operations Solution, Best Client Services Solution and Service Provider of the Year. We also honor individuals that have been outstanding in the prior year via Ops Business Person of the Year and Fintech Person of the Year.
We always have surprises and we do a thorough search for the Editor’s Choice award, which gives us another opportunity to honor an individual or organization for special achievements.
We top off the process with a gala event in Manhattan.
