The SEC has hired Wesley R. Bricker as its new deputy chief accountant, following his second stint at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), officials say. In his new role, Bricker will oversee the accounting group in the SEC’s Office of the Chief Accountant.
Bricker has more than 15 years’ experience in public accounting, and joins the SEC from PWC, where his most recent post was as partner responsible for clients in the banking, capital markets, financial technology and investment management sectors, officials say. Bricker previously worked in the SEC’s Office of the Chief Accountant from 2009 to 2011 as a professional accounting fellow, before re-joining PWC.
In addition, Bricker had a prior post at PWC as a senior manager from January 1999 to June 2009, according to his LinkedIn website page.
The SEC accounting group “advises the commission on accounting and auditing matters and works closely with private sector accounting bodies such as the Financial Accounting Standards Board,” according to SEC officials.
“I am very appreciative and extremely excited that Wes has agreed to return to the Office of the Chief Accountant to oversee the accounting group,” says SEC Chief Accountant James Schnurr, in a prepared statement. “Wes’s prior experience as an SEC accounting fellow as well as his experience in public accounting make him well-qualified to take on this new responsibility.”
