I am very happy to announce that FTF News has been named the sole media sponsor for the ISITC 24th Annual Securities Operations Summit, to be held in Boston from Sunday, March 18, to Wednesday, March 21.
FTF will be hosting a booth and will be looking forward to talking to as many securities operations professionals as possible.
Just to remind you, the acronym is for the International Securities Association for Institutional Trade Communication, and the organization pulls together the resources of broker/dealers, custodians, investment managers, vendors/utilities and others to sort out industry standards for the many facets of securities operations. In particular, ISITC and its volunteers have focused on bringing efficiency to trade processing and related communications.
Dedicated professionals from the industry volunteer their time for:
Working Groups:
- Corporate Actions
- Derivatives
- Margin and Collateral
- Reconciliation and Reporting
- Reference Data and Standards
- Securities Lending
- Settlements
And forums:
- Broker/Dealer
- Custodian
- Investment Manager
- Middle Office
- Regulatory
- Vendor/Utility
At the conference, ISITC is reaching out to new, disruptive technologies.
In fact, there is a workshop with the Innotribe group within SWIFT, “Learn How to Think Like a Startup,” that will help participants “understand and contemplate the important questions needed to find solutions to Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI),” according to the ISITC program. “During the workshop, participants will: define the business challenges and disruptions they are seeing in this space; identify market fit; design a solution.”
There will also be sessions on how to adjust to technology such as the afternoon keynote address by Dan Houlihan, executive vice president and head of global fund services at Northern Trust Company. He will focus on how deriving value from technology requires “fundamental changes in culture, skillsets, mindsets, and operational practices.”
In another session, ISITC will explore the federal government’s role in overseeing fintech and cryptocurrencies via “The Whirlwind in Washington — What’s Happening? What’s Not?” The session will feature: former CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler, who is now a senior lecturer and senior advisor for the MIT Sloan School of Management and Media Lab; and former CFTC Commissioner Mark Wetjen, managing director, head of global public policy, government relations at the DTCC.
For the closing keynote address, ISITC is featuring Cheryl Nash, president, Investment Services, Fiserv (who is also an FTF Awards nominee for Ops Business Person of the Year).
