The Korean subsidiary of research provider Morningstar has hired Andy Jung as its director of manager research, officials say.
In his new role at Morningstar Korea, Jung will oversee qualitative and quantitative manager research in the country. She’ll be leading four manager research analysts and directing overall coverage of the Korean market, including analyst reports, articles and white papers.
Jung is based in Seoul and reports jointly to Grant Kennaway, Morningstar’s head of Asia-Pacific manager research, and Jung Tae-Chae, Morningstar Korea’s CEO.
“We began offering qualitative fund ratings and research reports in Asia about five years ago, to help investors make more informed investing decisions,” says Chae, in a statement. “Andy has extensive knowledge of the Korean asset management industry, with experience in manager research and fund and product evaluation, and will add valuable insights to our research effort.”
Jung was previously an asset manager for Woori Bank’s Retirement Pension department, where she conducted manager selection, portfolio construction and performance monitoring, among other things.
Before that, she worked as a senior investment consultant for Towers Watson and as a research and competitive analysis manager for Fidelity Asset Management.
