FTF is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 FTF News Technology Innovation Awards competition.
Financial Technologies Forum (FTF) is pleased to announce that operational excellence and major achievements in financial technology innovation surged in 2020 as evidenced by the winners of the 2021 FTF News Technology Innovation Awards competition.
The winners of the FTF Awards competition, now in its tenth year, are being announced today, June 7, and they are being honored for achievements during a very trying year of pandemic-induced challenges.
The FTF Awards is breaking ground with two non-competitive categories.
To recognize the humanitarian efforts of key players in the securities industry, FTF has launched The FTF News Philanthropic Award.
The first recipient of the award is the investment bank Jefferies Group, which held a Global Coronavirus Relief Charity Day in May 2020 and donated $9.25 million to more than 85 charities and relief efforts focused on those suffering from the COVID-19 virus. The firm dedicated this effort to the memory of Mr. Peregrine “Peg” Broadbent, the chief financial officer (CFO) for Jefferies Group LLC, who died early last year from COVID-19-related complications.
Broadbent, 56, served for “more than a dozen years” as CFO and partner at the firm “and helped us build Jefferies from less than half its current size, and navigate through hard times and good times,” according to a joint statement from Rich Handler, CEO, and Brian Friedman, president of Jefferies Financial Group, issued in March 2020.

In another first, the Editor’s Choice Award will be given to an industry organization, the Fintech B2B Marketing Community, a new group for marketers who specialize in financial technology industry. The award honors the enduring spirit of innovation.
The Fintech B2B Marketing Community was founded by Payal Raina, the global head of marketing at Torstone Technology, and it launched in August 2020.
The group “provides its members with a unique platform to build and grow a network of marketing professionals, share insights and best practices, to train, learn and develop marketing careers through the mentoring program in the niche sector that is fintech,” according to the group’s LinkedIn page https://bit.ly/3vUpceX The website for the organization can be found here: https://fintechb2bmarketing.com/
Overall, the industry response to the 2021 FTF Awards continues to set records.
“As we celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of the FTF Awards and the 15th Anniversary of FTF, it has proven to be one of the most competitive to date. Not only did we get more than 220 nominations, but we also had a staggering number of voters from the industry — 20,000-plus,” says Maureen Lowe, founder, and president of FTF and FTF News.
“Congratulations to all of the nominees and especially to the winners who continued to innovate, stay connected and work so incredibly hard to keep their clients moving forward and adapt during not only very challenging period professionally, but personally,” Lowe says. “We are continually impressed with the dedication of so many in a highly competitive and rapidly changing industry. And many thanks to our clients who have worked with us over the past 15 years and helped shape FTF today. We hope everyone stays in good health and we look forward to a joyous reunion when we can safely meet again in person.”
