Markit, a provider of financial information services, and Infosel, a real-time financial information provider that specializes in Mexico’s capital and money markets, jointly report that Infosel will join the open messaging network from Markit that launched in October 2013.
The network, called Collaboration Services, will enable Infosel’s nearly 5,000 users to send instant messages to “people throughout the financial services industry, including those outside the Infosel network, in a secure environment conducive to collaboration and information sharing,” according to a statement from the companies.
“Users of the Infosel terminal will connect to Markit’s global network via the Microsoft Lync messaging software. Markit’s central directory for the open network will also be deployed within the Infosel platform, allowing users to search for and connect with other professionals in the industry,” officials say.
“We believe that making it easy for financial professionals to communicate between terminal environments is a major innovation for our industry,” Arturo Gómez Villarreal, Infosel CEO, says in the statement. “Interoperability of messaging systems, made possible by Markit, enhances our service and gives our customers what they want — the ability to communicate across the industry.”
“Open networks will change how business is conducted in the financial industry,” Andrew Eisen, managing director and head of the messaging network at Markit, predicts in the statement. “Infosel customers will have access to more than 200,000 other financial professionals already connected with Markit’s Collaboration Services.”
The network‘s protocols are “compatible with active and passive compliance software and e-discovery tools,” the statement notes.
