Newly appointed CFTC Chairman Timothy Massad has appointed several key members of the team that will work closely with him during his chairmanship.
Along with Massad, these individuals will “work with the chairman to set the agenda of the commission and to carry out the responsibilities of implementing the Dodd-Frank Act” and other CFTC regulations, according to a CFTC release.
“We have a lot of work to do, so I am pleased this initial staff will begin work shortly to strengthen the already excellent staff at the CFTC, and will work with me to tackle the many issues confronting the agency,” Massad says.
Clark Ogilive will serve as chief of staff and comes from the staff of the House Agricultural Committee. Ogilive has previously worked on three farm bills, two CFTC reauthorizations and helped craft the derivatives title of the Dodd-Frank Act.
Jonathan Marcus will continue to serve as general counsel, a position he has held since being appointed in April 2013. Before his current post, Marcus served as the CFTC’s Deputy General Counsel for Litigation, where he handled challenges to the CFTC’s Dodd-Frank rules.
Cory Claussen will serve as director of legislative affairs after serving as a senior staff member on the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
Lawranne Stewart will continue to serve as interim senior counsel, a position she was appointed to earlier this year under acting CFTC Chairman Mark Wetjen. Steven Adamske will continue as director of public affairs, a role he’s held for three years.
