iGATE Taps Infosys Exec for President and CEO
Consulting, technology and business process outsourcing vendor iGATE has appointed Ashok Vemuri to be its next president and CEO, replacing Gerhard Watzinger, who has been the interim president and CEO since May 2013. Watzinger will remain with iGATE in an advisory role temporarily to assist with Vemuri’s transition, say officials.Vemuri joins iGATE from Infosys, where he most recently was a member of the board of Infosys Ltd., head of the Americas unit, and global head of manufacturing and engineering, officials say. Vemuri also served as the chairman of Infosys China and was on the board of Infosys Public Services. He also established and ran the financial services and insurances business for nine years.
While he was head of the Americas, Vemuri was responsible for Infosys’ business operations in the company’s largest region—with $4.7 billion in revenues. He also ran all facets of the business, from strategic direction to maintaining and improving financial and operational efficiency.
DST Hires from Eagle
Investment management software vendor DST Global Solutions has named Robert Leaper, who used to work at Eagle Investment Systems, to be its head of business development for North America, say company officials. At Eagle, Leaper served as managing director and head of sales and marketing.
Leaper will work closely with the business development team to drive the acquisition and support of new clients for DST’s Anova suite of products for post-trade investment data management, performance measurement and client reporting.
In addition to Eagle, Leaper has also held worked at InvestTech Systems Consulting and Thomson Financial, officials say. At an earlier stage in his career he was a trader at Credit Lyonnais.
Ex-Thomson Reuters Head is SimCorp’s New MD for France
SimCorp, an investment and portfolio management software and services vendor, has named the former global head of business solutions at Thomson Reuters, Emmanuel Colson, to the post of managing director for SimCorp France, officials say.
Colson will also serve as co-head of its Western European market unit to focus on the company’s position in those markets.
Colson, who started his career at Arthur Andersen, has also served as head of Reuters France Solutions Business and sales director for the France, Benelux and Iberia region with responsibility for Thomson Reuters’ global accounts, officials say. He will join SimCorp on October 1 and will report to SimCorp executive vice president for EMEA and AsiaPac Jochen Müller.
Calypso Opens Dubai Office
While others may be in Dubai temporarily this week for Sibos, Calypso Technology has plans to stay longer with a new office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, say officials for the vendor of trading, risk and transaction processing solutions.
The office is located in the Dubai International Financial Centre, and will serve as a sales and marketing base as well as a professional services hub for the region, officials say.
The territory had previously been managed from Calypso’s Paris office, but with the addition new clients in the region, including Riyad Bank and Emirates NBD, a local presence was required, officials say.
Woodbine Appoints New Director of Risk and Analytics
Research and advisory firm Woodbine Associates has hired risk management expert Jerry Waldron, Ph.D., to be director of risk and portfolio analytics, officials say. Waldron will focus on investment performance, attribution, and risk issues that impact asset managers and brokers/dealers.
Waldron has experience in designing risk management processes encompassing performance assessment and attribution, regulatory and economic capital management, and asset-liability management at Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, Citibank, Calyon, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, K2 Advisors, Kiski Alpha Partners, and StoneCastle Partners, officials say.
He has more than 20 years of risk management and investment management experience via fixed income, mortgages, credit, interest rate derivatives, equities, equity derivatives, commodities, and insurance-linked products, officials say. His subject matter experience includes risk management, capital markets, derivatives, asset allocation, portfolio construction, scenario analysis and stress testing.
Waldron has been a graduate faculty member of New York University Stern School of Business, University of Memphis, and adjunct professor at Golden Gate University in San Francisco and the University of Dayton. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University, M.B.A in Finance from Columbia University, and B.S. in Economics from Villanova University.
Fiserv Fills SVP Post for Biller Solutions
Fiserv, a payments, processing services, risk and compliance vendor, has named Robert R. Craig to be senior vice president, biller solutions, officials say. Craig will oversee the strategic direction and day-to-day management of biller products and solutions from Fiserv, as well as business development, marketing and account management.
Most recently, Craig was CEO of eDeposit Corp., which provides prepaid financial services for consumers, merchants and businesses, officials say. Previously, he was at Online Resources, now ACI, as executive vice president and general manager of the eCommerce Services division. His payments background includes positions at First Data, REMITCO, Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase.
