The awards competition and gala reward industry participants in 2023 that faced many post-pandemic challenges including U.S. firms and their securities operations gearing up to quickly meet the May 28, 2024 deadline for a new, shorter settlement cycle — trading day plus one day or T+1.
By the way, the winners in the T+1 categories are:
- Best Solution for T+1 Transition: BNY Mellon T+1 Solutions
- Best T+1 Strategic Partner: TCS BaNCS Global Securities Processing Platform
In a key category spotlighting individuals, the FTF News Editor’s Choice Award for 2024 goes to Thomas F. Price, managing director, technology, operations, and business continuity at SIFMA.
A Wall Street operations veteran, Price oversees day-to-day operations and SIFMA and the services it provides to member institutions. In particular, Price has been playing a leading role in moving the North American securities industry into T+1 shorter settlement.
He has also advanced SIFMA’s cybersecurity programs via industry exercises such as the Quantum Dawn Series. He has also taken on key roles for major projects such as the Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT), the development of the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI), and the T+2 effort in 2017.
Before his time at SIFMA, Price was part of the regulatory and legal group at the former American Stock Exchange (now known as NYSE American), assisting issuers on exchange rules and regulations and public disclosure matters.
During his three decades serving Wall Street, Price has worked in retail brokerage, portfolio management, exchange trading, regulation and operations, served as a liaison between the American Stock Exchange’s listed companies and the trading floor.
In another special category, the FTF News Philanthropic Award for 2024 will honor Diane McLoughlin, program management director at FundGuard, for her long-term commitment to advancement of women in leadership roles.
McLoughlin serves as secretary for the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, and in 2023 she “single-handedly helped to raise tens of thousands” for that organization. She has been a “longstanding leader, champion, and advocate of their powerful mission to ‘build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place,’ ” according to FundGuard, which nominated McLoughlin for this honor.
“In 2018, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts honored Diane with a Leading Women Award for her commitment to the advancement of women in leadership … In 2023, Diane helped to establish FundGuard’s new Boston office and has doubled the team’s success in the region. She is an integral part of FundGuard’s leadership team. What is most remarkable, however, is Diane’s unwavering dedication to philanthropy in the Boston area,” according to FundGuard.
McLoughlin has 35 years of customer onboarding experience and expertise in accounting and data management solutions in the middle and back office. She has built several onboarding teams that have implemented over 150+ clients ranging from large asset managers and insurers to small start-ups, according to FundGuard. She also received the BNY Mellon STAR award in 2004.
