Deutsche Bank is hiring from Salesforce, a provider of customer relationship management software for its first chief data officer, bank officials say. The new chief data officer, J.P. Rangaswami, once worked for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW).
Rangaswami will join in January 2015 from Salesforce, where he has been chief scientist since 2010.
As chief data officer, Rangaswami will “play a key role in standardizing the bank’s processes, tools and governance around information and in supporting its digital strategy,” the Deutsche Bank statement adds.
Previously, Rangaswami worked at BT Group in a variety of technology roles, and prior to that was global chief information officer (CIO) at DrKW, according to the Deutsche Bank statement. Key businesses of DrKW, part of Dresdner Bank, were rolled into Commerzbank when it acquired Dresdner.
Rangaswami will be based in London and will report to Kim Hammonds, global chief information officer and global co-head of group technology and operations (GTO), and Jim Turley, global co-head of GTO.
“J.P. has a track record of partnering closely with senior business leaders to deliver innovation,” Hammonds says in the statement. “He will help drive competitive advantage by deepening the bank’s insights into clients and markets, while enhancing its data quality and controls.”
