DTCC Appoints MD for DTCC Deriv/SERV
The DTCC, post-trade market infrastructure services provider, reports that Valentino (Val) Wotton has been appointed managing director for the DTCC’s Deriv/SERV business unit, effective August 29, 2017.
Wotton will be “responsible for product development and strategy,” and will report to Chris Childs, president and CEO of DTCC Deriv/SERV.
Prior to DTCC, Wotton was head of post-trade services and European operations at Barclays, DTCC says.
“There, he was responsible for the implementation of a strategic global operational model to provide improved service capabilities to clients and internal businesses as well as the design and delivery of an enhanced strategic architecture to achieve automation, process improvement and risk management objectives,” according to DTCC officials. Previously, he was at Citigroup.
Standard Chartered Vet Joins Wolters Kluwer for APAC Role
Vendor Wolters Kluwer’s finance, risk and reporting business has hired Sarfaraz Ahmed as market manager, finance and risk, for its Asia Pacific (APAC) business, officials say.
Based in Singapore, Ahmed joins from Standard Chartered Bank where he contributed to the bank’s various mandates for the past 10 years, including those in risk analytics, policies, processes and systems, Wolters Kluwer officials say in a prepared statement.
Vendor officials also note that, at Standard Chartered, Ahmed was the stream lead for the “delivery of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 9 for the wholesale and private banking businesses.” In his role, he oversaw the methodology and delivery of the models for “Expected Credit Loss (ECL) computation while also ensuring data and systems were configured to deliver the required data for IFRS 9, supporting the transformation of the policy and processes impacted by IFRS 9,” officials say.
At Standard Chartered, Ahmed also developed “risk models in retail and SME businesses and [led] the bank’s initiatives in securing internal ratings-based (IRB) accreditation for the bank’s subsidiaries in various countries in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to working at Standard Chartered, Ahmed held business development and analyst positions at FICO and ICICI Bank respectively,” according to a vendor statement.
Broadridge Names President of Investment Management Solutions
Broadridge Financial Solutions reports the appointment of Eric Bernstein as president of Broadridge Investment Management Solutions.
“Previously, Bernstein spent 17 years in financial technology, leading divisions at Linedata, Sophis and most recently, at eFront,” Broadridge says in a statement.
“As eFront’s Chief Customer Success Officer, Bernstein had global P&L responsibilities for account management, global support, product management and the Pevara Data Business, which covered more than 850 clients. Prior to that … he was Chief Operating Officer of the Americas at eFront,” Broadridge officials say.
Broadridge’s investment management solutions “supports more than 225 global hedge funds, asset managers, family offices, fund administrators and prime brokers,” the firm says.
Axioma Hires MD from Quantifi
Axioma, a vendor of market risk and portfolio management solutions, has hired industry veteran Mark Traudt as managing director and head of product engineering, officials say. Traudt’s role will be to further Axioma’s leadership role in financial technology innovation.
Vendor officials say that Traudt’s main objective will be to advance the technology of Axioma’s suite of products “in addition to driving the development of new capabilities,” officials say. Overall, Traudt’s mission will be to help Axioma create offerings that “are transformational to our clients,” says Sebastian Ceria, CEO of Axioma, in a statement.
Traudt will report to Axioma’s chief operating officer (COO) Ian Webster.
Traudt joins Axioma from risk analytics vendor, Quantifi, where he had been chief technology officer (CTO) since 2003, officials say. In his role at Quantifi, he oversaw the technology and architecture of the Quantifi Risk solution. Prior to Quantifi, he was a vice president at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in global equity derivatives and had positions with ING Barings, Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets, and Kidder Peabody.
