CME Group, the derivatives exchanges operator, reports that its European clearinghouse, CME Clearing Europe, has received authorization under the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) as a central counterparty clearing house (CCP).
The authorization covers all over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives and futures products currently cleared by CME Clearing Europe, including interest rate swaps, energy and commodities, and FX contracts.
CME Clearing Europe also provides services for CME Europe, CME Group’s London-based derivatives exchange, the parent company notes.
The CME Group encompasses the CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX exchanges, which service futures and options based on interest rates, equity indexes, foreign exchange, energy, agricultural commodities, metals, weather and real estate, officials say. Market access is facilitated by the CME Globex electronic trading platform and clearing via CME Clearing.
