Electronic trading platform vendor Fidessa has promoted David Polen to global head of electronic execution, according to a company statement.
For his new role, Polen will be responsible for overseeing the development of software that allows brokers “to present global execution to their own clients more intelligently and cost effectively,” according to the statement.
“Fidessa’s aim is to help brokers focus on trading ideas, rather than regulatory and technical intricacies,” says Polen in the statement. “Navigating the trading landscape is already complex and costly, with many subtleties associated with trading across asset classes and geographies.”
Polen was previously U.S. head of business Development at Fidessa, where he’s held a variety of posts during his roughly 14-year tenure. Polen previously left Fidessa for a year-long stint at broker-dealer Lime Brokerage, but subsequently returned, officials say.
Fidessa’s trading platform provides both buy- and sell-side clients with an algorithmic structure that handles the grunt work of electronic trading, and allows them to add their own trading algorithms. The platform covers 220 markets across four asset classes, officials say.
“It’s great to have David spearheading our efforts to strip out the complexity from global electronic execution,” says Mark Ames, Fidessa’s global head of sell-side services and Polen’s new boss.
