Robbert Kuppens, former IT executive for Cisco Systems, has been named chief information officer at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a management consulting firm.
He joined the firm’s Amsterdam office as a partner in January and succeeds Tom Dionisio, who retired at the end of March after more than 15 years as CIO.
At BCG, he will be responsible for driving the firm’s global IT functions, leveraging BCG’s own IT and organizational-change consulting experience, according to BCG’s statement.
Kuppens previously worked as Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Russia (EMEAR) CIO for Cisco Systems. From 2007 to 2014, he also was a member of Cisco’s global IT executive team and served as cross-operations lead between the EMEAR team and the local and global IT functions. EMEAR represents more than a quarter of Cisco’s $48.6 billion global business, according to the BCG statement.
Prior to joining Cisco, Kuppens was a partner for e-strategy at KPMG’s Nolan, Norton & Co. Before KPMG, he worked at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and NCR Corporation.
BCG has a “lot of momentum right now and is committed to taking its IT and digital transformation capabilities, both external and internal, to the next level and beyond,” Kuppens says in the statement. Founded in 1963, BCG is a private company with 81 offices in 45 countries.
