The list of the top award winners is a mix of established industry participants and those working on the cutting-edge of post-trade securities operations.
Financial Technologies Forum (FTF) has just announced the winners in its awards competition for post-trade securities operations, which turned out to include a nod to the emerging technology of blockchain/distributed ledger technology (DLT).
Approved industry participants and a not a panel of judges selected the winners for the 2017 FTF News Technology Innovation Awards, reports FTF, owner of online news service FTF News and FTF Focus magazine. This is the seventh contest since the awards process began in 2011. The FTF awards honors the best in the post-trade securities operations during the previous year.
Among the top honors Service Provider of the Year will go to Broadridge Financial Solutions, and the Best Buy-Side Operations Solution honor will go to Eagle Investment Systems, based upon the voter tallies. SmartStream Technologies has won Best Outsourcing Provider and Best Derivatives Operations Solution.
The FinTech Person of the Year honor will go to Faisal Husain, CEO and co-founder, Synechron, which also won Best DLT Initiative of the Year.
The honor for Ops Business Person of the Year goes to Charlie Marchesani, president, global technology and operations (GTO) for Broadridge Financial Solutions.
In an interesting turn of events among nominees, Marchesani competed against four women for the honor: Paula Arthus, managing director and head of Omgeo and Data Services at the DTCC; Sheryl Brown, director of the business development analyst team, Ash Brokerage; Cheryl Nash, president, investment services, Fiserv; and Susan M. Vismor, head of global business continuity for BNY Mellon.
The winner of the Editor’s Choice Award for Operational Excellence is Karla McKenna, a director at Citi and the head of standards for the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF). A specialist in financial standards, McKenna, has been facilitating the development and implementation of GLEIF standards and is working with other organizations such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to bolster the operational integrity of the Global Legal Entity Identifier System (GLEIS).
