GFI Acquires 32 Phoenix Partners Group Brokers
GFI Group, which offers brokerage services, market data, trading platforms and analytics software, has acquired key assets of Phoenix Partners Group, an independent interdealer-broker in the international credit and equity markets. As a result of the transaction, GFI will be hiring 32 brokers—divided between offices in New York and London—and additional operational and management staff, officials say.Phoenix Partners Group, based in New York, offers intermediary services to an institutional, financial client base, in credit and equities, officials say. Phoenix uses a hybrid business model for credit transactions, combining voice broking with electronic execution.
Former NICE Actimize Exec Joins Quantifi
Analytics, trading and risk management solutions provider Quantifi has appointed Bruno Piers de Raveschoot as head of EMEA out of the London office, officials say. Raveschoot, who has more than 20 years of experience with financial technology companies across Europe, Asia and North America, was most recently president of EMEA and APAC at NICE Actimize where he was responsible for the European operation; Actimize was acquired by NICE in 2007 for $282 million. Before Actimize, Raveschoot was vice president, Europe at Poet and vice president, business development at CSFB.
“As demonstrated by our 40% growth in EMEA revenue for 2012, we have performed extremely well in the region and Bruno will be a key asset to Quantifi as we look to further build on that momentum,” says Rohan Douglas, CEO at Quantifi in a prepared statement. At Quantifi, Raveschoot will serve as a member of the management committee.
ASPire Picks a CMO
Retirement plan solutions provider ASPire Financial Services has added Shelia Reed as senior vice president and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Previously, Reed was vice president of marketing at PMSI, a provider of specialty products and services for the workers’ compensation and liability market. At PMSI, Reed directed all public relations and social media strategies, officials say.
Reed will be responsible for managing the overall strategy, direction and leadership for ASPire’s product development and packaging, brand, marketing and communications efforts including the company’s digital and social media strategies, officials say. Her background includes creating and implementing business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing and product strategies.
Earlier in her career, Reed served as the global brand leader for KPMG Consulting and BearingPoint.
Susquehanna Financial Group Hires Internet Analyst
Susquehanna Financial Group (SFG) has a new senior analyst, Brian Nowak, to cover the U.S. Internet sector, officials say. Nowak has been a senior analyst at Nomura Securities for the past two years, also covering the U.S. Internet sector.
Prior to Nomura, Nowak worked at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. as part of the U.S. Media research team. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Nowak’s coverage will include Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Amazon and eBay. He will be based out of SFG’s New York office.
