SVP Advances to Head of Fidelity ActionsXchange
Will Dolan has moved from his post as senior vice president, brokerage products for Fidelity Institutional, to head Fidelity ActionsXchange, which offers solutions for global corporate actions and related market events, officials say. Fidelity Institutional is the clearing, custody and investment management products division of Fidelity Investments.
Since joining Fidelity in 2004, Dolan previously held roles at Fidelity Capital Markets and the National Financial clearing division, officials say. For the National Financial group, he served as senior vice president for international/institutional product management. In that role, he oversaw the cross-Fidelity international brokerage program targeting Fidelity’s global efforts such as the creation of Fidelity Clearing Canada in Toronto.
Dolan reports to Janice Morris, executive vice president, who oversees the Advanced Electronic Market Solutions organization for Fidelity Institutional; Morris reports to Gerard McGraw, Fidelity Institutional president, officials say. Morris and her team develop advanced trading and data services.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Dolan held senior positions with Knight Capital Group and the American Institutes for Research.
OANDA Hires a CTO and Acquires Currensee Global
FX trading services provider OANDA has appointed a former BlackBerry executive Graeme Whittington as chief technology officer, officials say. Whittington will oversee the development and delivery of OANDA’s products and services.
At BlackBerry, Whittington held several senior positions including roles in product management and software with a focus on infrastructure systems. He also held posts in global marketing, including work with telecom regulatory bodies, officials say. Before his role at BlackBerry, Whittington was part of IBM Canada’s consulting arm with a focus on business and information technology strategy.
In addition, OANDA has acquired Boston-based Currensee Global Inc., an FX market copy trading firm working within a proprietary social trading network, officials say. The integration of the two technology platforms from OANDA and Currensee will provide traders with a unique offering. Copy trading is the method that traders use to mirror the behavior of experienced FX investors; the practice also targets individual traders who share research data and collaborate with other traders.
Technical teams have been scheduled to begin the work to make the Currensee platform available to OANDA clients, officials say.
Denise Valentine Returns to Aite after BlackRock
After serving as a risk manager for asset manager BlackRock, Denise Valentine has returned to market research firm Aite Group as a senior analyst in the asset management group, officials confirm. Valentine focuses on institutional asset management, hedge funds, and the intermediary market.
Just before rejoining Aite in August, Valentine worked as a risk manager in the BlackRock global sourcing group from May 2011 to July 2013. At BlackRock, she identified high-risk vendors in the business services segment and was responsible for conducting vendor due diligence to identify and mitigate risk issues. She also defined contract requirements and coordinated the firm’s ongoing vendor management program.
Her first stint with Aite was from 2007 to 2011 when she served as senior analyst/consultant. Before Aite, Valentine also served as a senior analyst with research advisory firm Celent. She also served as a business risk manager in the asset management, insurance, and consumer credit divisions of GE Capital Services, officials say.
Kevin Cullen Takes on VP Role in Support of SunGard XSP
Industry veteran Kevin Cullen, the former communications and marketing director corporate actions vendor Information Mosaic, is now a vice president at SunGard Capital Markets, supporting his former employer’s key rival XSP.For the past decade, Cullen worked at Information Mosaic until the vendor shifted its marketing and public relations efforts to Europe.Before Information Mosaic, he served as business development director at Misys from August 1992 to August 2003. He also served as director of U.S. accounts at IBOS, an international banking alliance from January 1991 to August 1992.In addition, Cullen has been involved with industry-sponsored standards group ISITC since 2004, and currently serves as a board member, officials say. He has been active in the Corporate Actions Working Group, the Custodian Forum, the Marketing and Vendor Committees and has served as the co-chair of the Marketing Committee.
Advent Sales Exec Joins DealVector
DealVector, an online deal registry and communication platform for fixed income and structured credit markets, has appointed
the former national sales manager at Advent Software Jim Kranz as head of business development, officials say. The company has added Jim Nadler, the president and chief operating officer of Kroll Bond Ratings to its advisory board.
Prior to joining DealVector, Kranz spent more than six years at Advent Software as senior market manager and as national sales manager, officials say. Kranz was also instrumental in the launch of Advent Portfolio Exchange (APX), a portfolio management solution that integrates all phases of the investment management and client reporting process. He has also held executive positions at CRA RogersCasey, Cap Spring Inc., BARRA Inc., Capital Management Sciences, and Knight-Ridder Financial.
Nadler previously was the vice president for corporate development at General Re in the New England Asset Management Division, officials say. At General Re NEAM, Nadler was instrumental in developing its alternative asset area.
Both appointments came as a result of DealVector surpassing its funding goal. Some of the key investors include former Thomson Reuters CEO Tom Glocer, Data Explorers founder Mark Faulkner, and Data Explorers CEO Donal Smith, officials say.
