Never mind the Golden Globes, the Oscars or any of the other awards events, the FTF News Technology Innovation Awards for 2019 are about to get underway.
We will kick off the first step via the nominations process, which begins Monday, January 7. The nomination categories can be found here.
You will have until January 25 to send in your nominations and, as you will see, we have refreshed many of the categories.
We also want to encourage as many new and interesting nominations as possible. The nomination submissions are open to securities industry professionals including financial technology and services providers, consulting firms, industry utilities, industry bodies, regulators, exchanges, and financial services institutions such as investment banks, broker/dealers, custodians, buy- and sell-side firms, and entities that play key roles in securities operations.
We have many other specifications for the submissions, but, in general, please put some time into your nomination(s) and really think them through. If you have any questions about the categories or the process, please contact us and we will do our best to provide complete responses and guidance.
After the nomination process closes, the nominees will be announced Feb. 11, which also marks the start of the voting process for qualified industry participants. We are distinct from other competitive awards contests in that industry participants pick the ultimate winners.
Voting will continue until April 12 and the final winners will be announced on May 15.
We are finalizing the details for the gala event and will share them as soon as we can.
Lastly, there is one big change that is important.
For this round of awards, we are giving a new focus for the Editor’s Choice Award.
Given the strife and disruptions of 2018, we wanted to turn the spotlight on the good things that unite us, particularly those efforts by industry participants to be more socially responsible.
These initiatives encompass efforts to satisfy clients’ needs for environmental, social and governance (ESG) requirements, diversity outreaches, charitable causes, disaster relief task forces, and innovative ways to finance causes that benefit humanity.
So, to recognize all the positive energy out there, the Editor’s Choice Award for 2019 will focus upon an organization’s push to spur positive changes for all.
So, I as the FTF News chief content officer, FTF staff members, and eligible FTF awards participants will be able to nominate a provider, industry group, end-user financial services firm, user group or individual that last year launched a successful endeavor to help humanity. We at FTF will sort through the nominees and then pick the ultimate winner. The group or person to be honored in this category can be from any eligible Ops areas.
We remain committed to shining the light on excellence in the securities operations that keep financial markets running well. We hope that you will join us as we review and reward the Ops achievements of 2018.
