Symbiont Names Chief Security Officer/Chief Cryptographer
Symbiont, a startup offering a smart contracts platform based on distributed ledger technology (DLT), has appointed cryptographer Dr. Lisa Yin as its chief security officer and chief cryptographer, company officials say.
In her new role, Yin will oversee the development of advanced security and privacy solutions for Symbiont’s platform.
Yin has more than 20 years of experience in research, implementation, consulting and standardization of cutting-edge security technologies, and is a well-known
expert in the cryptography community, officials say. “She was one of three researchers who broke SHA-1, the U.S. Government hash standard,” officials add. She also served as chief editor of IEEE P1363, the first standard for public key cryptography that became the foundation for major cryptography standards.
“Cryptography and computer security are extremely fast-moving fields, so it is imperative to be able to take full advantage of the latest developments, to anticipate and proactively address new forms of attacks,” says Adam Krellenstein, chief technology officer (CTO) and co-founder of Symbiont, in a prepared statement.
Symbiont offers technology for syndicated loans, “which incorporates strict privacy requirements to keep information confidential among parties sharing data on-ledger,” officials say. “Credit Suisse announced completion of milestones in the project in September, which involves 15 financial institutions and includes Symbiont’s joint venture partner, Ipreo, and R3.”
