The board of directors of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has reappointed Chow Chung Kong as the chairman of the board for a term to be coterminous with his directorship.
The reappointment of Kong as the HKEx chairman was subject to the written approval of the chief executive of the government, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), pursuant to Article 111(2) of HKEx’s Articles of Association and Section 69 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO), according to an HKEx statement.
Chow’s previous term of office as a director of HKEx and the chairman expired at the conclusion of HKEx’s annual general meeting held on April 16, officials say. Chow was reappointed for a term of approximately two years from the close of the 2014 AGM until the conclusion of the AGM in 2016.
Following the reappointment of Kong, HKSAR appointed Tim Freshwater as a director, and shareholders’ re-elected Bill Kwok and Vincent Lee as directors of HKEx. The HKEx board also appointed new members to certain committees, effective immediately, according to the statement.

The term of service of each director on each committee is coterminous with the individual’s term of directorship with HKEx, the exchange’s statement notes.
