IEX Ups CSO to President
Startup stock exchange IEX, the buy-side-owned alternative trading system, reports the promotion of Ronan Ryan, its current chief strategy officer (CSO), to president.
Meanwhile, Eric Stockland, of KCG Holdings, becomes the new CSO, “responsible for representing IEX in industry and regulatory policy discussions, guiding product strategy, and serving on several internal management committees,” according to a statement, which notes also that Stockland currently represents KCG on IEX’s quality of markets committee.
Stockland will report to new president Ryan, who in turn reports to Brad Katsuyama, IEX co-founder and CEO, who became widely known after he was featured in Flash Boys, the best seller about high-speed trading by Michael Lewis.
IEX Group Inc. is seeking the approval of the SEC to become an exchange that features speed bumps to avoid the problems caused by high-frequency trading.
SWIFT India Names CEO
SWIFT India Domestic Services reports the appointment of Kiran Shetty as its chief executive officer, heading up its operations and business lines.
SWIFT India, which went live this past March, is a joint venture of several Indian public and private banks and SWIFT, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication.
Shetty joins SWIFT India after more than 20 years in the financial services industry, according to a statement. Previously, he was a managing director and regional vice president, India & South Asia, for Western Union, SWIFT India says.
Banks in the joint venture include Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and Union Bank of India, per the statement.
Ace Software Appoints a Senior Product Manager
Ace Software Solutions, a provider of financial transaction management and sanctions compliance technology for banks and corporates, reports the appointment of Tristan Blampied as senior product manager for its Pelican product suite of transaction banking, regulatory compliance and corporate payments solutions.
He joins from the payments and cash management business at HSBC, where most recently he managed MPS, its bank/vendor collaboration product initiative, Ace says in a statement. “Prior to this he was a business analyst and senior project manager with Simplex Consulting/Bottomline Technologies.”
In his new Pelican post, Blampied is “responsible for managing the continual advancement of the overall Pelican product portfolio and developing new tools and applications,” and will have a “particular focus on emerging technologies and solutions which can meet the requirements of customers in a changing regulatory landscape.” Ace says.
Montréal Exchange Names MD for Derivatives Trading
Montréal Exchange reports appointment of Luc Fortin as managing director, derivatives trading.
Fortin’s mandate includes growing the derivatives business, the bank says. He will also “focus on the efficient delivery of new products and solutions to enhance the overall MX client experience and oversee the day-to-day operation of the derivatives market.”
He is a 25-year veteran of the capital markets, with a specialty in leading client-facing teams in fixed income and derivatives, serving most recently as managing director, Canadian head of the institutional client group at HSBC Bank Canada, according to the bank’s statement.
The Montréal Exchange is a subsidiary of Toronto-headquartered TMX Group, which also includes the Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TSX Alpha Exchange, the Canadian Depository for Securities, Montréal Exchange, Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation, NGX, BOX Options Exchange, Shorcan, Shorcan Energy Brokers, AgriClear and others, per the bank.
