Foreign Exchange Hire is from Deutsche Bank
ITG, a broker and financial technology provider, reports the hiring of Ruben Costa-Santos as director and head of FX and Andre Nogueira as an analytics director.
Costa-Santos, who will oversee ITG’s foreign exchange activity across the analytics, execution and workflow technology product groups, will be based in the New York office, ITG says in a statement. Most recently, he worked at Deutsche Bank, where he served as head of FX platforms for the Americas, according to ITG. “Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2004, Costa-Santos conducted physics research at Utrecht University and at Stony Brook University.”
Nogueira, based in ITG’s London office, will lead the firm’s analytics consulting efforts in Europe, ITG says. He joins from Bloomberg, “where he worked on multi-asset class trading analytics. Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2014, Nogueira worked in various product management and trading systems roles at Societe Generale, Merrill Lynch and the NYSE Group.”
Societe Generale Names Director of CSR
Societe Generale reports the appointment of Sylvie Préa as director of corporate social responsibility (CSR), effective January 1, replacing Jean-Michel Mépuis, who is retiring.
Currently, she is head of human resources for the society’s global banking and investor solutions division.
In her new post, she will become a member of the group management committee, according to a Societe Generale statement, which points out that her “mission will be to lead and develop the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Societe Generale group, which is one of the key dimensions of the Bank’s strategy to secure sustained growth.”
Her elevation to the group management committee is part of Societe Generale’s program to ensure that environmental and social principles “apply to all the Bank’s activities and are taken into account in the daily conduct of all its businesses,” the bank says.
And Societe Generale Appoints Head of Global Technology Services
Societe Generale reports the appointment of Carlos Goncalves as head of global technology services, effective November 1, replacing Bertrand Lemarignier, who will take a new position within the bank group.
Goncalves will become a member of the group management committee at the beginning of the new year, according to a bank statement. He will “supervise the IT infrastructure services for all the Bank’s business lines,” according to SocGen officials.
Goncalves started his career in the research and development team of Portugal Telecom “before joining Societe Generale in 1993 as part of the IT department of Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB),” according to the statement, which notes also that he was “initially in charge of the Treasury Management System, before contributing to the conception and development of a major trading program and becoming head of the team in 1997.”
A decade later, he was appointed global head of technology for equities derivatives, and “from 2009, Deputy Global Chief Information Officer for SG CIB,” officials say. “In 2011, he became Global Chief Information Officer for SG CIB. Since 2013, Carlos has been Global Chief Information Officer for the Global Banking & Investor Solutions division.”
AIMA Names New Chair and Board
The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) has appointed a new chairman and formed a new AIMA council, the association’s board of directors.
The association’s new chair is Simon Lorne, vice chairman and chief legal officer, Millennium Management LLC, who replaces former SEC Commissioner Kathleen Casey, who was AIMA chair from September 2012 to September 2016, according to a statement.
There are also four new additions to the council, AIMA notes. They are Robyn Grew, chief administrative officer, Man Group Plc; Han Ming Ho, partner, Sidley Austin; Ryan Taylor, partner, global head of compliance, Brevan Howard Asset Management LLP; and Michael Weinberg, senior managing director, chief investment strategist, Protégé Partners.
AIMA tallies more than 1,700 corporate members in more than 50 countries.
