It’s time to submit your nominations for the FTF News Technology Innovation Awards.
We are thrilled to launch the nomination process for the 2023 FTF News Technology Innovation Awards — an industry-wide competition now in its 13th year — presented by Financial Technologies Forum (FTF) and the FTF News service.
In addition to our classic securities operations and related categories, we have four new categories that reflect industry shifts in 2022 and point to the many ways forward for modern securities operations.
For instance, we are acknowledging the surge in service providers for digital assets that occurred last year.
The new Best Service Provider for Digital Assets category will honor those “securities firms, custodians, prime brokers, and service providers” who have moved quickly to meet this challenge of the fast-moving digital asset markets. “The demand for this new version of custodian support will come from many constituencies such as banks, brokerages, exchanges, asset managers, crypto hedge funds, family offices, pension funds, and other buy-side firms. The winner in this category will have to provide dynamic support that is comprehensive, flexible, and scalable.”
The other new categories are:
- Best Disruptive Solution: This award spotlights “distributed ledgers, artificial intelligence-based solutions, machine learning advances, big data projects, and quantum computing applied to difficult problems are becoming part of the post-trade IT landscape;”
- Best ESG Data Provider: This award focuses on the “critical need for reliable ESG data in order to meet complex client demands. The unconventional nature of ESG data is challenging incumbent providers and opening the door for newcomers and partnerships;” and
- Best Security Solution: Our new honor is for “excellence in alerting and protecting firms against money laundering schemes, fraud, remote network hacks, malware, ransomware, data hacks, and security challenges via mobile devices, digital assets, and crypto-based financial products.”
Starting in 2011, we felt the need to celebrate the professionals, financial technology vendors, service providers, industry bodies, regulators, and other industry participants that achieved operational excellence. The winners of the awards made great strides in the year prior.
Unlike other awards, the FTF Awards winners are picked by their industry peers. In fact, securities industry participants put forward the nominations, which are then narrowed down by FTF for each category. This process allows the best judges in the industry to pick the winners.
So, these are the milestones for the 2023 FTF Awards:
- Nominations open on Jan. 17 and will close March 3 (the deadline was extended);
- The nominees will be reviewed and then announced by March 20 when voting begins;
- Voting ends on April 28;
- The winners will be announced on May 22;
- A gala event will follow at a location in New York City in October 2023.
For the nominations, please put your best foot forward. Submissions should not be a cut and paste of company boilerplates, nor should an entry consist of only a company/product name. These types of submissions will be disqualified.
As for the voting rules, “individuals may NOT vote for their own company (this includes PR firms that represent nominees) or a subsidiary or parent company of the nominee. These votes will be automatically disqualified,” according to our website.
“Votes can be made by industry peers, clients, and other relevant industry professionals. Please do not ask spouses, siblings, children, parents, grandparents, random friends, or pets to participate in the voting process. Only votes from business e-mail addresses will be considered. Votes from personal e-mail addresses will not be counted,” according to the rules. “We highly encourage nominees to ask their clients to take part in the submission and voting processes.”
