Pimco has named Eric J. Mogelof to be its head of Asia Pacific, and has hired Adrian Stewart as executive vice president and head of Pimco Australia. Stewart will begin his term with Pimco in August and will report to Mogelof, say officials at the bond giant.
Previously, Mogelof was head of the Americas institutional business and global head of Pimco Advisory.
Mogelof, a managing director who joined Pimco in 2003, will have management oversight responsibility for the firm’s business in the region, including its Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo offices, and will report to Douglas Hodge, managing director and the firm’s CEO.
Prior to joining Pimco, Mogelof was a financial analyst in the investment banking division at Salomon Brothers, and he was an associate at Jupiter Partners, a private equity firm.
Mogelof will relocate from New York to Hong Kong in August, and will continue to serve on Pimco’s executive committee, which sets policy and strategic direction for the firm, officials say.
In his new role, Stewart will be overseeing Pimco’s business in Australia, including serving the firm’s institutional and wealth management clients, officials say.
Prior to joining Pimco, Stewart was most recently head of wholesale distribution and marketing at Macquarie Group Ltd. Before that position, he was head of Macquarie Professional Series where managed product, investment, distribution and marketing functions. He has more than 22 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Over the last 15 years, Stewart has held management positions across investment management, platforms and financial planning organizations.
