FTF News is taking on the annual SIBOS conference, put on by the SWIFT financial messaging and services cooperative. The conference is being held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2.
You can check out our online news coverage all week. We will provide a mix of product news, coverage of presentations and panel discussions, and video interviews with key participants from the conference.
The conference itself will feature debates, keynote addresses, panel discussions and special interest sessions targeting many issues of concern to financial services firms, including many tracts on the challenges of post-trade securities operations.
Among the post-trade issues that SIBOS will tackle are deep dives into the latest on custodian and asset servicing, corporate actions processing, collateral management, ISO20022 updates, SWIFT’s role in the Legal Entity Identifier standards initiative, U.S. sanctions against Russian firms, and even SWIFT’s new Know Your Customer Registry.
As SIBOS was approaching, FTF News took the opportunity to check in with key vendors attending SIBOS to find out what SWIFT-related areas are important to them. We will be running their responses throughout the week online and in our Fall 2014 magazine, debuting at the SIBOS conference.
Which brings us to the Fall 2014 edition. For our cover story, we are turning our spotlight on the expanding reach of compliance.
Compliance is no longer restricted to minding the path of securities. Operations, compliance and risk staffs have to stay on top of social media channels, cyber-security threats and the venerable voice-based derivatives trading businesses that are subject to the regulatory overhauls for over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives.
The magazine will also feature a sampling of the online Minding the Gap blogs, a review of our online case studies, and a report on the global push to shorten settlement cycles for securities transactions from trade date plus three days to trade date plus two days (T+2). Shorter settlement cycles will challenge buy-side firms to streamline infrastructures and workflows, particularly back-office infrastructures.
In the magazine, we also take a little look back to the FTF News Technology Innovation Awards gala aboard a yacht in New York Harbor.
We hope that we can keep you suitably informed during SIBOS week.
