Peter Akwaboah is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Technology and the Global Head of Innovation for the firm.
• In his COO role, Peter is responsible for driving the Technology strategy with a focus on fueling the Firm’s innovation, effectiveness and resilience.
• As firmwide Head of Innovation, Peter partners with business and technology to build on the firm’s technology investments to deliver new ideas and opportunities to serve our customers and drive business growth.
• Previously, Peter was the Global Head of Shared Services and Banking Operations, and COO for Global Operations.
• Peter is a member of the firm’s Global Franchise Committee, Board member of the Morgan Stanley Foundation and on the Global Wellbeing Board. He also serves as Co-Head of the Morgan Stanley Black Employee Network Group, advocating for the development and advancement of our Black employees and communities.
• Before joining Morgan Stanley in 2015, Peter spent a decade at the Royal Bank of Scotland including as Asia Pacific COO for Operations, Technology and Corporate Service. Prior to that, Peter held senior roles in Operations and Technology at Deutsche Bank, KPMG and IBM.
• A software developer by trade, Peter holds degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham, U.K.. He is a member of Federal Reserve Bank’s (FRB) Payments Risk Committee and serves on the Board of the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS).
• Peter resides in New Jersey with his wife Sylvia and their three boys. A keen sportsman, Peter represented Great Britain in Track and Field at events around the world, an experience that has influenced his career and leadership style.
