SWIFT has launched of a new version of its online query tool Bankers World Online directory to meet industry demands for a comprehensive source of financial data to meet an ever-growing number of regulatory reporting requirements, say officials of the financial messaging and services cooperative.
SWIFT reports that the BWO directory, which is part of its SWIFTRef data-utility portfolio, has been “significantly” upgraded to provide more data coverage, more financial information including data from Reuters, Dun & Bradstreet, and Moody’s, and new features and functionalities.
The online directory includes such reference data as Business Identification Codes (BIC), International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN), Legal Entity Identifiers (LEI), and national bank codes, among other features, to “facilitate international payments and to [fulfill] new reporting requirements,” officials say.
The directory also includes “financial information from market data vendors and credit rating agencies, including credit ratings, shareholder information, balance sheet information, cash flows, and … more data sets about customers, suppliers and service providers.”
The BWO directory provides online access to source the reference data a financial institution or corporate needs to “correctly populate domestic, SEPA [Single Euro Payments Area] and international payments; to validate the required identifiers in regulatory reports or find the information needed to evaluate counterparty risk,” according to SWIFT.
