It’s not breaking news that we are living with rather high levels of stress that are manifesting themselves in poor sleeping patterns.
To help people cope, French entrepreneurs Guillaume Barathon and Charlie Rousset started Morphée in Paris about three years ago in an effort to find natural solutions for insomnia. They wanted their offerings to combine meditation and a relaxation therapy known as sophrology.
The result is the “Morphée,” a device that provides “eight themed sessions to aid sleep, such as breathing, cardiac coherence (slowing the heart rate), napping, visualizations, and nature sounds,” according to the company.
The company recently presented its offerings at the “Home Now” Pepcom showcase in New York City that featured gadgets and other items for home office, security, automation, entertainment, kitchen, bed, bath, and smart home technology. The American English version of Morphée “houses therapy sessions within a portable device” that has a beechwood shell and three keys. The first key is for picking a theme while the second key can be used to choose “one of eight training sessions per theme. The third key then determines the length of each session — either 8 or 20 minutes,” according to the vendor. “Finally, people can choose the voice of their audio guide, and whether it’s the dulcet tones of Jessica or Tim.”
The Morphée was launched in late 2021 in the U.S., a spokesperson tells FTF News.
“More than ever, U.S. customers have big needs in terms of sleep and reducing stress and anxiety. Morphée is the first solution on the market that doesn’t use a phone or any connected device, a lot of people needed unconnected solutions to improve their well-being,” the spokesperson adds.
The company also offers “My Little Morphée,” a device “that uses sounds, music, and stories to help children relax, build self-esteem, develop confidence, and overall improve their sleep,” according to the company.
“My Little Morphée is a non-digital, screen-free sleeping aid designed especially for children aged three to eight years old. It contains 192 meditative journeys to prepare children before bedtime or help calm them down during the day,” according to the company. The sessions include visualizations, breathing and relaxation exercises, and guided meditations.
The 128 visual journeys offer different destinations such as an island, desert, forest, and so on. The child listener is guided “by an animal of their choice. Each animal represents a different facet of emotions, be it confidence, enthusiasm, wisdom, generosity, happiness, courage, curiosity, and independence, helping children develop their sense of self,” according to the company.
The first key on the Little Morphée allows the child to pick an animal companion. The second key “allows children to select the universe they will explore (forest, beach, island). A button on the side selects the duration (8 or 16 minutes) of the session. The meditation journeys help children gain control and calm their emotions, while the 16 nature sounds and 16 soft music tracks (composed especially for My Little Morphée) help them unwind and relax,” according to the company.
The company says that it has more than 200,000 customers in Europe and is just breaking into U.S. markets. Priced at $99.99, both offerings are available via the Morphée.co website and via Amazon.
In addition, the company is negotiating “a massive distribution contract” with several U.S. companies, the spokesperson tells FTF News.
Whether or not you go on a Morphée journey, we hope you find ways to deal with your stress levels and get the rest you need.
