The UBS board of directors has announced that it will nominate Jes Staley for election to the board at the firm’s annual general meeting of shareholders on May 7, 2015, officials say. If elected, Staley is expected to be nominated for a spot on the risk committee, according to a UBS statement.
Staley has been a managing partner at BlueMountain Capital Management since February 2013 and prior to that held various senior executive positions at JPMorgan, officials say.
UBS Chairman Axel Weber, in a statement, says Staley’s professional expertise over three decades of working in several top leadership functions in global banking “make him ideally suited to strengthen the board of UBS. Subject to his election, we are convinced Jes will bring invaluable skills, experience and insights to the firm.”
In addition to his position at BlueMountain Capital, Staley serves on the board of directors of the Robin Hood Foundation, Code Advisors, the board of trustees of Bowdoin College, the Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
