In this edition of FTF News Live, we spoke with Ken Bentsen, Jr., the president and CEO of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association also known as SIFMA.
Bentsen and his colleagues at SIFMA have been concerned about key aspects of the big data trade surveillance project known as the Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT). The SEC, FINRA, and the CAT NMS LLC have been driving this effort for many years.
Recently, though, Bentsen via a formal response to the SEC has been asking the SEC to rethink its data collection process, and, on another front, to rethink CAT data breach liability policies that, in their current form, are likely to have a major impact upon firms that have CAT reporting requirements.
