Some of the key concerns of middle and back-office operations such as data modeling, regulatory compliance, and interoperability are on Jane Gavronsky’s agenda in her new role as the first chief technology officer (CTO) at the Fintech Open Source Foundation, also known as FINOS.
“That’s a common thread and certainly touches the back office,” says Gavronsky who was a guest June 10 on the FTF News Live series of interviews with industry movers and shakers. (The interview was recorded and archived for free viewing later.)
FINOS describes itself as an “independent 501 (c)(6) nonprofit organization” with a mission to speed up collaboration and innovation in financial services by way of “open source software, standards and best practices.”
Most recently, Gavronsky served as managing director and Global Head of Reference Data Technology Services at Credit Suisse. While at Credit Suisse, she helped drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and revamped the global operating model of the bank’s technology organization.
In addition to her time at Credit Suisse, Gavronsky has worked at major financial services firms, and she has had to produce technology solutions for trading, risk management, and business operations.
Among other subjects, the 20-minute chat covers:
- The nature of open source technology and why it’s having a moment now with banks and other securities trading firms;
- How open source technology can help with enterprise-wide transformations;
- How open source solutions can help with the “most prominent problems” at financial services firms;
- What FINOS will be doing via data modeling, regulatory compliance, and cloud certification;
- And how FINOS’s open-source efforts impact back-office and post-trade operations.
