Xenomorph, the analytics and data management vendor, has integrated the Python open source scripting language into its TimeScape cross-asset data management platform.
The Python programming language is cross-platform, easy to use and highly readable, say Xenomorph officials. It offers object-oriented scripting, which has made it attractive for use with cutting-edge applications developed at Carnegie Mellon University, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and NASA.
The vendor chose the Python programming language because of its “inherent maintainability, conciseness, portability and its integration” with languages such as C and C++, officials say. The integration of Python also provides developers with access to gold copy data, real-time data and analytics managed via TimeScape. The new support will extend data management into decision support and data analysis across front, middle and back office, officials add.
In addition, Python is being used by Xenomorph’s clients for back testing trading ideas and the prototyping of analytics, say vendor officials.
“Quants, risk managers, IT and operations staff all have their preferred ways and environments for working with data and our aim is to open up the benefits of data management to all users and departments,” says Naj Alavi, managing director, Xenomorph Americas, in a prepared statement.
